Description
A block of hardened brown sugar, known to many Filipinos as panutsa, from Aling Conching Native Products, a product of the Philippines from San Fernando, Pampanga. It's made with just one ingredient, brown sugar from sugarcane, cooked down and set into a solid round for a deep, caramel-like sweetness.
Shave or melt it into arnibal (brown sugar syrup) for taho, sago't gulaman, and halo-halo, or use it to sweeten champorado, ginataang bilo-bilo, and turon. It's also nice as a dip for suman, or nibbled in small pieces as a sweet treat. 8 oz (227g) pack.
